Our Approach

Couples portraits during an engagement photo session.

If you’re searching for photographers that cherish the relationship we will form working together, then you have landed in the right place!

We pride ourselves on being tangible and responsive when it comes to planning and curating the flow of photography on your wedding day.

We’re here to help you feel comfortable in front of the camera and make photography feel like a part of the day and less like a job for you and your partner.

It’s your wedding day - you should be able to fully experience it without it feeling like a huge photoshoot!

Holly Desautels

  Hey there!

My name is Holly and I am the “H” in HJPhotoCo. I grew up in a tiny one-street light town in Massachusetts before music brought me to Long Island, NY! I met Jackie (the J in HJPhotoCo) at a show in Brooklyn that my band at the time was playing, and the rest is history. Now, 8 years later - we're engaged and running a wedding photo business together!

I've been a photographer for over a decade, shooting my first wedding at the age of 18. I think my love of photography started at a very young age. I actually have numerous tapes of myself as a pre-teen making home videos for years. Those are tangible memories that I am so thankful that I have. I definitely got it from my parents. They were constantly snapping photos and taking video. ALL analog of course!

Now, I get an immense amount of joy in providing people with their own tangible memories to hold close forever through photographs.

What’s up!

My name is Jackie and yup, you guessed it, I’m the “J” in HJPhotoCo. My love for art and creative expression started with music. Before picking up photography, I played guitar for 20 years and still do! In High School I took 3 years of film photography with no idea that 10 years after graduation, photography would become my greatest passion. I absolutely love photographing weddings and sports! Weddings are full of joy and love. It’s one of the happiest days in a persons life and I feel so incredibly lucky to get to capture those moments. Sports are an adrenaline rush and in a lot of ways very similar to weddings! Fast paced, high energy and emotional. When I’m not shooting a wedding or a sporting event, you can catch me geeking-out with Holly over vintage cameras while sipping coffee and watching hockey.

Our Own Love Story

We fell in love over music, hockey and photography.

Our bands were both scheduled to play a show together in Brooklyn, NY on a hot and muggy August day in 2017. Holly was touring with her band from Massachusetts, and Jackie’s band was based on Long Island. We look back on that day fondly as the moment we knew there was a spark! A long distance relationship wasn’t something either of us had anticipated, but after months of chatting over zoom, falling asleep next to our laptops, countless ferry rides, and the determination to nourish our budding love and help it grow, Holly made the big move from Massachusetts to Long Island. Here, Holly introduced Jackie to photography and and together a new love grew. The love and passion for creating art together for other couples in love!

Now, married ourselves, we understand how important it is to find photographers that can capture your day and capture the essence of your love story.
